<div>It's hard to know how to respond to this. I guess I'll say simply that I'm dumbfounded at this blatant attempt to stifle any discussion of OA in anything other than cheerleading mode. If we can't talk about all the downstream implications (whether positive,
negative, or mixed) of the various publishing models and options that are on the table, then it's hard to see how we're going to come up with sustainable, fair, and widely-beneficial solutions. </div>

<div>All of us have a stake in this conversation. I trust the moderators of these listservs will resist Stevan's call to silence those stakeholders who fail to support unreservedly and uncriticially the one model that he favors. A policy of prior restraint
doesn't strike me as terribly consistent with the goals of OA.</div>
