that the number of full text items on institutional repositories<br>in Japan exceeded one million on the first of June, 2012.<br>That is to say, more than a million Open Access articles/documents<br>are available on line from Japan now.<br>
That fact was capture by JAIRO, a service provided by the National<br>Institute of Informatics(NII), which harvest all the metadata of<br>the content on the Japanese institutional repositories. In terms<br>of the number of metadata, the fifteenth of September, 2011, was<br>
a milestone date when it exceeded a million, but in terms of real<br>content, this month is more significant.<br><br>Visit the following URL of the English page that also shows the<br>kinds of content, the number of repositories and other relevant<br>
