[GOAL] Plan S. Because not enough has been written about it yet.

Dear all,

To add to the collection of commentary on Plan S I have just published two sister blogs on Unlocking Research:

  *   "Relax everyone, Plan S is just the beginning of the discussion" https://unlockingresearch-blog.lib.cam.ac.uk/?p=2148  and
  *   "Most Plan S principles are not contentious" https://unlockingresearch-blog.lib.cam.ac.uk/?p=2145

The general points are that this is a statement of principle rather than a set of policies, it does not necessarily represent a ligature on academic’s choice of publication (note that hybrid is not necessarily off the table and green OA is compliant with zero embargo and a CC-BY license), and that the real conversation we should be having is about the academic reward system rather than Plan S itself.
