Dear readers,
Welcome to the first edition of the HIRMEOS newsletter. The HIRMEOS newsletter will be disseminated regularly every 2 months and will keep you updated
about developments in the project High Integration of Research Monographs in the European Open Science infrastructure (HIRMEOS).
HIRMEOS is a 30-month project funded under the Horizon 2020 Program of the European Commission. It focuses on the monograph as a significant mode of
scholarly communication in the Humanities and Social Sciences and tackles the main obstacles of the full integration of important platforms supporting
open access monographs and their contents.HIRMEOS supports the network of OPERAS, a distributed Research Infrastructure project for open scholarly
communication.

On April 26th and 27th, DARIAH-EU and DARIAH-DE hosted DARIAH’s annual event 2017 at the Harnack House of the Max Planck Society, Berlin. Pierre
Mounier (CLEO) was present for HIRMEOS and spoke about the project’s activities. The DARIAH meeting was an excellent opportunity to discuss various
issues related to the sustainability of research infrastructures.

On Thursday 20th April HIRMEOS participated in the book fair Tempo di Libri in Milan. Andrea Bertino presented aims, partners and publishing platforms
of the HIRMEOS project in the context of a round table with Pierre Mounier and Paola Mazzocchi, who respectively talked about DOAB and mEDRA. The
discussion was moderated by Lorenzo Armando of Lexis Compagnia Editoriale in Torino.

The HIRMEOS project kick off meeting was held in Athens, on January 18. All the participants were present. The Project Coordinator gave a short
