Dear colleagues,
I write to you today to attempt to encourage the participation of the GOAL community in the broadcast of an industry-wide survey to understand author perspectives on the academic publishing process.
To provide some background, a few years ago, we published a comparison survey of the perceptions of East Asian authors and international journal editors (Learned Publishing, v27(1), January 2014, pp. 63-75; http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1087/20140110/epdf). This survey opened eyes to many gaps that exist between the perspectives of authors and journal editors. The survey findings were not only published, but also presented at various industry conferences worldwide.
We are now working on a much larger industry-wide survey with an ambitious goal of over 20,000 respondents. This goal will only be possible by co-distribution through a variety of partner channels, and for this reason I ask for your help in making the link to the survey available through your author community by promoting it on your website, through social media, or mentioning it in an editorial of some sort. We'd be happy to support you with additional information, banners, or anything you need to support a successful distribution campaign.
Additionally, your personal input would definitely add value to the survey responses, so please feel free to take about 15 minutes to complete the survey yourself, and distribute it among your colleagues.

The person who is spearheading the survey initiative is Clarinda Cerejo (clarinda.cerejo at editage.com<mailto:clarinda.cerejo at editage.com>); please feel free to reach out to her for more information about the initiative and how we can support you in the dissemination of the survey throughout your community.
I thank you in advance for your in-kind support in these regards.
Cheers,
Don
