[GOAL] OpenCon 2016 Ranchi

Dear Colleagues and Friends,


 I am happy to inform you on behalf  of Open Access India <http://openaccessindia.org/> on this form about OpenCon 2016 <http://opencon2016.org/>  satellite event at Ranchi.

The OpenCon is more than a conference. It’s a platform for  the next generation to learn about Open Access, Open Education, and Open  Data, develop critical skills, and catalyze action toward a more open  system for sharing the world’s information—from scholarly and scientific  research, to educational materials, to digital research data. OpenCon 2016 will be held in Washington, DC on November 12-14, with satellite events hosted around the world.


 In India, during the Wiki Conference  at Chandigarh my friends from Open Access India, had  organised OpenCon 2016 Chandigarh. A similar satellite event would be happening at Ranchi in  the month of November. The date is tentatively fixed as 12th Second  Saturday and the probable venue would be Ranchi University.

 I  hope that some of you who have interests in Open Access, Open Science,  Open Research and in Ranchi or nearby cities may participate in the  event and also speak & share your thoughts and projects. If not able to travel physically, you may also speak via Skye. hangouts or another web tool.
