Dear All Concerned,

Kind apologies to use this global platform for introduction of Open Access India, a community of practice  (openaccessindia.org).

Dear Colleagues, we under the banner of Open Access India were many working for the Advocacy of Open Access, Open Data, Open Education using the social networking platforms. But we are not very much active on this platform. Though we could contribute to Open Access policies, we didn't establish ourselves as a think tank of Open Access.

Now we want to get more involved in the Open Access Movement in India and contribute more by forming a registered Scholary Society in India in which people from abroad also could be members.

To start with, we have formulated the following aims and objects of the society. Please give your valuable suggestions.

1. To promote and cultivate the spirit of openness among all for the advancement of scientific research, literature, education, cultural aspects related to science, scholarship and society for the public good.

2. To advocate and promote Open Access, Open Data, Open Education,

Open Licences, Open Metrics, Open Research, Open Science among all researchers, students, research managers, administrators, policy makers within the country and abroad and extend its usefulness for the public advantage.

3. To provide a forum for the free exchange and dissemination of research information and experiences related to Open Access, Open Data, Open

Education, Open Research, and Open Science.

4. To build capacities of individuals and institutions to embrace

openness, develop, advance and contribute to Open Access, Open Data, Open Education, Open Licences, Open Metrics, Open Research, and Open Science.

5. To organise and participate in meetings, seminars, workshops,

conferences, training programme, courses and other activities in partnership, collaboration and co-operation with schools, colleges, universities, research

institutes/organisations, non-profit organisations, think tanks, government,

and other organisations in India and abroad.

6. To publish open access newsletters, monographs, journals in the

interest of the public.

7. To participate in all such activities, consultations, meetings which are relevant to the accomplishment of openness in science and scholarship.

8. To do all and any other acts or things as may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the above objects

Thank you

With Regards

Sridhar
