In 2012, PLOS began a bold experiment with combining scholarly article publishing with simultaneous deposit into Wikipedia through the PLOS Computational Biology Topic Pages.
As of today, on the PLOS Computational Biology Topic Pages collection, I see 8 Topic Pages, 5 of which were published in 2013, and a link to an editorial by Wodak et al. "Topic Pages: PLOS Computational Biology Meets Wikipedia":

This is an interesting and useful experiment in re-use. It would be helpful if the authors of this experiment were to share their experiences to date. For example, aside from the number of topic pages published, it would be helpful to know how many authors (numbers and percentage) chose to participate, whether all interested participants resulted in a finished topic page or only some, and any issues that may have been uncovered or lessons learned through this experiment.
Any update or correction of my admittedly limited information on this topic would be appreciated.
