Forwarding from David Wojick.

Richard,

NSF requested comments on the OMB/OIRA clearance of their Public Access
Policy and I submitted official comments late last week. These are posted on
Figshare at
http://dx.doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.1466710 . Background on the clearance
process is at
http://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2013/10/21/us-federal-open-access-rulemak
ings-to-come/.
The OIRA clearance process is fairly arcane, so happy to answer questions.

These comments are public documents so feel free to share or quote them.

The thrust of my comments is that NSF is ignoring the burden on researchers
of carrying out their Public Access mandate, especially including mandated
data sharing. I also raise a number of other issues. NSF should be taking
the lead here.

There is a link to the NSF request at the beginning of the comments, but it
is http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2015-05-19/pdf/2015-12086.pdf. I
encourage you to encourage others to comment. The deadline is July 20.

My best,

David
