I hope all will take the opportunity to read Brian Mathews' thoughtful and
nuanced take on this situation (Gary provided the link below, but here it
is again for convenience: http://bit.ly/10gld7d).

Nuance and thoughtfulness are, sadly, not always rewarded when the topic
of OA arises. This unfortunate fact can be inferred from the updates at
the bottom of Brian's original posting.
