Hard to believe that adults in the 21st century are still agonizing over non-problems like this, worthy of Duns Scotus.
Does anyone really imagine that what a teacher does or does not cite in a course syllabus is subject to copyright law?
Or any business of the publisher's?
Has the (obsolete) era of "course packs" left a permanent scar?
Is this all just to give a frisson to formalists?
Or an exercise in counterfactual sic-fi?
Or diversion for bored permissions mavens?
