ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Australian Open Access Support Group (AOASG) is pleased to announce the launch of its website http://aoasg.org.au today, 22 February 2013.
The group intends the site to be an authoritative location for all aspects of the open access discussion in Australia. It contains information about open access in Australia, including places to find open access materials, links to open access resources, lists of research and writing about open access in Australia and other useful links.
The Australian Open Access Support Group (AOASG) exists to:

  * Provide an advocacy voice for open access to research in Australia.
  * Increase awareness of the importance of open access, and target advocacy to Australian research institutions, funders and the wider community.
  * Where appropriate to correspond with and advocate open access to publishers.
  * Share knowledge and experience and work collaboratively with groups in support of open access.
  * Be an Australian voice to interact with other international organisations.

The AOASG has been founded by six Australian universities which have an open access policy requiring published research outputs to be made available: the Australian National University, Charles Sturt University, Macquarie University, University of Newcastle, Queensland University of Technology and Victoria University.

The press release announcing the launch of AOASG on 22 October 2012 is available here: http://aoasg.org.au/news/MED_AOASGLaunch-PressRelease_20121022/
