Demonizing publishers may be fun (rather the way Gold Fever is fun) but it is
ineffectual. Providing OA is entirely in the hands of the research community:
all they (research institutions and funders) need do is to mandate providing
Green OA.
The rest is in the implementational details. Ranting at publishers and
trying to convert them to Gold OA is futile, expensive, and has already
wasted a decade.
The handwriting is on the wall for all to see (and has been for a decade
now). Eventually we'll get it right….
