Dear colleagues,

The European FP7-funded MedOANet (Mediterranean Open Access Network) project aims at coordinating Open Access policies, strategies and structures in six Mediterranean countries: Greece, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey. The project consortium is formed by six organisations representing the countries, and three additional partners from Northern Europe.

MedOANet is currently conducting, until June 15, online surveys addressed to research performing institutions, research funders and scholarly publishers in these countries. Results of the surveys (together with information from various other sources) will be mapped into a 'Mediterranean Open Access Tracker', a major tool of the project, expected to be released in September and to develop eventually into a virtual self-sustained observatory for Open Access in Southern Europe and beyond.

We have sent out invitations and targeted potential participants in the surveys in different ways. Although we tried to do this comprehensively, we may have missed some institutions.

If research organisations, funders or publishers from one of the six countries think that they should respond, and haven't done so yet, they are kindly invited to take a few minutes for completing the survey, which is available here: http://www.medoanet.eu/news/take-part-medoanet-surveys.

MedOANet will of course keep the communities informed about the results, and more generally about events, developments and final outcomes of the project, which will run until the end of 2013.
