Lewis' 1942 satirical novel reads as a series of letters written by a senior demon named Screwtape, who is mentoring his inexperienced nephew Wormwood in the finer points of how to secure the soul of an unsuspecting British chap—"the Patient"—into hell. In Geffert's retelling, Uncle Screwtape is mentoring Wormwood as an aspiring academic publishing magnate. ...
