Dear Fellows
Please read this email through carefully before responding – thank you.
We have been invited to nominate up to 5 members of our university to join the Agenda Committee for the upcoming conference AI and data science in the age of COVID – which aims to produce a recommendations report for how the research community can be best placed to respond to national crises in the future.
The Turing are looking for data scientists, medical professionals and front-line academics who have been involved in various aspects of the data science/AI response to the pandemic, who can share their experience and expertise as part of a group and contribute towards a paper that the Turing hopes will help inform policy and future responses.
To do this well, the committee has agreed a limit of 100 participants. The intention is to accept ~50% of these through direct nominations from programmes and universities, to ensure there is representation – but also allowing for participants from an additional open call, recognising the role of the Turing as a national institute and the need to collaborate outside of our community.
I am attaching the form that would need to be completed (online) in the event that you are nominated. Please read this carefully before letting me know by 5pm on Monday 5 October that you would like to be considered for nomination. If selected for nomination, you will then be sent a link to complete the questions in the attached form (so the form is for information only at this stage) by 10am on Monday 12 October. All successful candidates will be informed by 26 October.
PLEASE NOTE that I will be sending our another email tomorrow inviting participants to join the workshops. This is separate from the nominations to join the Agenda Committee and will require completion of a different form to that attached to this email.
I hope this is all clear but if you have any questions, please come back to me.
Best wishes
Susan
