Please see below an email about the Southampton Science & Engineering Festival.  If you have already expressed an interest as part of your Turing research engagement plans, or would like to take part, please note that the revised deadline is 7 January.  Please also let me know if you are planning to participate.

The Southampton Science & Engineering Festival (SOTSEF) , including Science & Engineering Day, is back for 2019 with more exciting hands-on activities, shows, demonstrations, talks and tours!
This year the Southampton Science & Engineering Festival (SOTSEF)<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sotsef.co.uk%2F&data=01%7C01%7C%7C5a9dba3a3d7f4bed196208d655284183%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=mCjz9gGyArz1Ix8gmD7F1rBZOGeAy%2Bm9A2SH1VnT938%3D&reserved=0> will run from 8 March 2019, culminating in Science and Engineering Day on Saturday 16 March 2019.
We would like to invite you to register your intent to participate in SOTSEF 2019.
Engaging with the public brings a host of benefits - to the University, to staff and students, and to the public. SOTSEF is a unique University of Southampton opportunity to highlight our global reputation and to share our life-changing research with a friendly, interested and engaged audience.
Science & Engineering Day:
If you are interested in running an interactive activity, workshop, talk, performance or tour on Science & Engineering Day please click here<https://groupsite.soton.ac.uk/Administration/Science-Festival/Pages/Home.aspx>.
The deadline for completing this stage of the application is the 7 January 2019.
(At this stage, we do not need to know your exact requirements, just top level information that will help the team plan the activities and floorplans/ zones, this is stage 1)
Once your application has been reviewed and approved by the PERu team, please be aware of the following further deadlines:
18th January -stage 2 update your application with logistical details such as power & space requirements
1st February - stage 3 confirm your team and their requirements (e.g. tshirt sizes, lunches etc)
9th February - stage 4 send through risk assessment
You will be sent reminders and clear instructions on how and where to upload this information in due course.
Please note: To ensure that SOTSEF is inclusive of everyone, we are working with the central Equality and Diversity team to conduct an equality impact assessment and this will be part of the application submission process.

The wider festival:
If you are interested in holding an event in the week preceding the Science & Engineering Day as part of the wider festival then please email festival at soton.ac.uk<mailto:festival at soton.ac.uk> or reply to this email by the 20th December to discuss this further.
These will generally take place in the evening, could be on- or off-campus and will probably be better suited to a more-adult audience. Options might include a pub quiz, a film screening, a poetry reading or a stand-up comedy show. We are open to new ways of engaging the public with your research.
