We ended up adding a new 'restricted abstract' field - which would contain the full abstract whilst the full-text was under embargo.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D;mso-fareast-language:EN-US">This also means that the author can have part of the abstract available (in the normal abstract field) if they want whilst the document
is restricted.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D;mso-fareast-language:EN-US">This might encourage use of 'request a copy', without inferring too much about the content of the document.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

option) that would hide the abstract from display (and export) during the embargo period, much like the document preview is hidden. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
