<p>You can make an approval process by making the &quot;default&quot; role that someone signs up for have zero or few privileges. You then need an admin to turn that &quot;signup&quot; user into a normal &quot;user&quot; user.</p>
<p>However, that means either someone monitoring the unapproved users or some notification. It's probably quite easy to write a hook that emails someone when new users signup but I forget how.<br>
