<div>The way I would approach this is with an automatic value. In eprint_fields_automatic, set a value in a new field. That value would be multiple and would contain 'A-D' ('E-H', etc) for each author's family name. You then have a multi-field browse view
that goes to this new field first, then to author's family name. You may also need to copy the family names with the letters in that range into another new field to support this.</div>

What specific version of EPrints are you running? What is line 1550 of /usr/share/eprints3/perl_lib/EPrints/Update/Views.pm<br>
