[EP-tech] Basic authentication configuration

While exploring the codebase today, I found a line of code (https://github.com/eprints/eprints/blob/master/perl_lib/EPrints/Apache/Auth.pm#L76) which implies that you can configure site paths where basic authentication is used rather than cookie authentication. This was implemented at https://github.com/eprints/eprints/commit/3013ff54b9f3e9eebbf5a2c64e84cd2cc1241872#diff-a0693c14be410ff32229e2a0026f4c65

This code exists in 3.2, 3.3, and master. I couldn't find any documentation or other code referencing this configuration setting. Should it be considered "documented" functionality or is it a relic that may disappear without warning?

Cheers
Mark
