Thanks John that's given me plenty to be trying.

Derek,

If you look at http://wiki.eprints.org/w/EPScript, and also at:
~/perl_lib/EPrints/Script.pm (try a perldoc on it).
~/perl_lib/EPrints/Script/Compiled.pm (don’t bother trying to do a perldoc on it – there’s no documentation ;o)
You’ll see the commands available to you in the epc namespace.

I think something like like <img src=”{$doc.url()}” /> should work (look in ~/archives/ARCHIVEID/cfg/citations/eprint/summary_page.xml for an example of iterating through documents).

There may be other properties of the document that you want to test first – if you render a non-public document, you’ll be prompted for a login when it tries to render the image (which isn’t nice).

You may also want to create a new document citation e.g citations/document/canary.xml (see below – untested hacked together example) and call that from the eprint citation (again, once you have a $doc to play with):
<epc:print expr="$doc.citation('canary')" />

Hope that makes some sense and gets you another step along your EPrints journey!

Cheers,
John

========== canary.xml ============
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<!-- Document citation style (canary) -->
<cite:citation xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:cite="http://eprints.org/ep3/citation" xmlns:epc="http://eprints.org/ep3/control">
<!-- a comment here will be included in the xml output – useful to see where things come from to help debug.
This is citations/document/canary.xml
-->
<span class="ep_document_canary"><img src=”{$item.url()}”</span>

Someone must know how to do just pull the abstracts associated thumbnails
into the page without all of the extra html (tables , hover previews etc.)
All I want is an <img> tag.
I've looked at summary_page.xml, eprint_render.pl and quite a few others
but I'm tearing my hair out, there must be a way to get something so
simple surely?

I found this page
(http://wiki.eprints.org/w/How_to_Create_Cover_Images_in_EPrints_3) but
theta isn't quite what I want and it does appear to be out of date?

Thanks
Derek

I don't understand how the alternative URL gives me different image types?
I've already edited summary_page.xml to output slightly different content,
but what I want to do is to change:

<epc:print expr="$doc.icon('HoverPreview','noNewWindow')}" />

To actually just print out an image tag with my selected image size (I've
already got it generating some custom image sizes)

I would assume that would go something like:

<epc:print expr="$doc.icon('myCustomSize')}" />

But obviously I have no real idea what the syntax would be.

Thanks
Derek

Hi,

You can by editing archives/<id>/cfg/citations/eprint/summary_page.xml

Look where the documents/thumbnails are rendered and replace with your
code. You should be able to use the document's "alternative" URL
(your-repo-url.com/id/document/{docid})

Hi,
When viewing the abstract is it possible to output the actual image

I don't want to use the lightbox effect to get the lrger version, just the
image that it's using.
Thanks
