A MESSAGE FROM ECSS:
Hello my fellow ECS Students!
It is Olivia Ojuroye, your ECSS Academic Secretary 2013/14.
A huge thank you for all those who replied to the Microsoft survey. Microsoft were very happy with the number of people who replied and look forward to meeting us next week!
I have organised two ECSS Academic Talks happening in May:
1) Winton Capital Management are visiting ECS on Tuesday 7th May, 13:00-14:00, free lunch provided - B53/4025.
If the words 'Machine Learning', 'Business', and 'Financial Pattern Recognition' conjure up feelings of intrigue then you will absolutely enjoy what Winton have to offer you. This is the technological hub where Engineers, Physicists, Programmers, Researchers, and Mathematicians work collaboratively to analyse the statistics of financial markets in an intelligent way.
To get a better idea, watch their video here: https://www.wintoncapital.com/#/careers
Interesting fact: One of Winton Capital Management Directors started out as a summer intern studying Computer Science with Mathematics at ECS!
If you like the sound of Winton Capital Management and would like to attend, could you register your interest at:
recruitment at WintonCapital.co.uk The deadline to register is Friday the 3rd of May, so be quick! If you forget, I am sure you can still turn up.
2) Microsoft Games Testing Division, Europe are visiting ECS on Wednesday 8th May, 13:00-14:00, free lunch provided - B59/Seminar Room 1. Software Development/Testing, what it is like to work with their Games Testing team, and in Microsoft in general will be discussed.
