I am specifically emailing you as a suitable representative of your research group, or activities with student projects.<br>
<br>
We are planning to greatly improve the GPU compute resources available for ECS teaching and student projects, targeted towards topics such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.<br>
<br>
We are looking to purchase GPU cards (NVidia RTX2070) to put in all the teaching lab PCs on Zepler level 2, and possibly also Building 16 level 1.<br>
<br>
The overall aim is to have resources available in the lab during the day for scheduled lab sessions, and at night and at weekends they would be available remotely for coursework and project use.<br>
<br>
<b>Please could you pass this on to anyone in your group that you think might have an interest in using GPU resources in their teaching, or in student projects (both UG and MSc).</b><b><br>

</b><b>This includes not only CS topics such as Machine Learning and Data Mining, but also engineering-focussed applications such as Comsol. Several of those large simulation packages now support GPU-based acceleration, which dramatically speeds them up.</b><br>
<br>
Please can you give me as much information as you think useful about the following:<br>
<br>
* What software applications do you use or want to use?<br>
* What libraries?<br>
* What programming languages?<br>
* For each of the above, what is your preferred OS for students to use?<br>
* Why?<br>
* Are the above available (and do they work!) in other OSes?<br>
Please tell me what you have and haven't *recently* tested.<br>
* Could your teaching needs be met within Windows only? If not, why?<br>

And what other information do you think I might find useful?<br>
