Dear MSc project supervisors,<br>

This is a reminder about updating/adding your Options for MSc projects
in the Choices system. We had asked to do this by 6 January, but this
should have read 13 January, the end of week 12. Thanks to everybody
who has done this by now. For those who have not, please do so by
Monday 22 January. See below for details.<br>

<div>We will be using the Choices system again to facilitate MSc
project allocation. This year, each supervisor is asked to put 4 to 6
"Options" into the Choices database - examples of projects or research
areas you would be interested in supervising. Students will use these
options to help them find supervisors which match their interests.</div>

<div>If you entered Options into the system last year, they have been
carried over and this is an opportunity for an update. If you did not
supervise MSc projects last year, you need to create your 4-6 Options
now.</div>

<div>We ask you to do this before 6 January 2018.</div>

<div>You are receiving this email because you are assumed to be
available for MSc project supervision in the summer. If you believe
this is not the case, please discuss with the HoD.</div>

<div>1) An Option is either a description of a specific project, or it
can briefly outline a general research theme. Options should be seen as
examples of projects that you can supervise. </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>2) Once students have been allocated to you, you are expected to
make every effort to agree on a project. It does not have to be one of
your Options in the Choices system.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>3) The Project Coordinator will review the number of Options with
respect to the size of specific MSc cohorts. The relevant programme
leader could ask you to make some of your Options available to their
cohort.</div>

</div>
<div>4) Students cannot contact potential supervisors until the
allocation has been made. Prior to allocation, programme leaders may
contact you if their students have questions about your Options.</div>

</div>
<div>5) The students will have access to the Choices system from the
first day of semester 2, and will then have two weeks to select 8
Options from at least 6 different supervisors.</div>

</div>
<div>6) Programme leaders will then refine the initial
student-supervisor matching provided by the Choices system, which is
aimed at an even spread of students over supervisors. The final
allocation should be announced in week 4 of semester 2.</div>
