Dear all
Thanks to those of you who have contacted me about their students already.
If you haven't already done so, please can you take a quick look at the Turnitin reports for each of your students?
Any with a similarity index of >15%, or any other concerns, need to be raised with me - please send me a quick summary of your opinion as to whether there's a problem. If you follow the email link from the Academic Integrity section of the e-Marking form, this pre-populates an email to me with the student details.
Many thanks
Alex Weddell

Subject: [COMP6200-supervisors] MSc Project Marking: Deadlines and Procedures
Dear all,
All students who did not take referral exams have now submitted their MSc projects and they are ready for marking. Students with referral exams or special considerations will be submitting next week.
------
The marking deadlines are as follows:
*Monday 14th of October* - independent marking and feedback forms of supervisor and second examiner
*Monday 21st of October* - mark moderation forms with the final agreed mark
------
It is important to adhere to these deadlines to allow for any third examination, and also for the programme leader reviews (please sufficiently explain how the final mark was agreed) and the External Examiner reviews to take place prior to the MSc Project Board.
The dissertations have been printed and are in the process of being delivered to you or your group by the end of this week. Later submissions will be printed and made available come October.
For each project where you are a supervisor or second examiner, you must complete the following, using the e_marking system at https://secure.ecs.soton.ac.uk/notes/comp6200/e_marking/assess/COMP6200/1819/
1) Please check the similarity index and TurnItIn plagiarism report. If there are signs of plagiarism or the similarity index is greater than 15% please contact the AI Officer, Alex Weddell (ecsai at soton.ac.uk<mailto:ecsai at soton.ac.uk>) as soon as possible, so this does not delay the process later.
2) If there are no AI issues, please complete your independent marking form, with reference to the marking criteria at https://secure.ecs.soton.ac.uk/notes/comp6200/documents/MARKING_CRITERIA.pdf
3) Once both independent marking forms from the examiner and supervisor are complete, you should then discuss the final mark with the other. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to contact the second examiner.
4) Once discussed and agreed, both supervisor and examiner must complete their own moderation form (there is a moderation form for both examiner and supervisor, both of which must be completed). Please summarize your discussion about marks moderation, so that there is a record in the E-marking system of how the final mark was decided. This has been raised repeatedly by the External Examiners.
The full marking procedures and details can be found here: https://secure.ecs.soton.ac.uk/notes/comp6200/procedures.php
Thank you all for your support of our MSc students over the Summer and for all the work you have put in.
Best wishes,
Oli Bills
MSc Project Coordinator
