Hi Gopal,
We’re looking forward to seeing you and your colleagues on Monday. I’ve now finalised the names and there will be 9 (possibly 10) of us from the areas below. I’ll give you a call later today/tomorrow to finalise details.
Dstl attendees – you’re heading for the Highfield campus, Building 32, Level 4. Room 4073 (on University Road, see https://maps.southampton.ac.uk<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fscanmail.trustwave.com%2F%3Fc%3D7369%26d%3D37SA3JBTQg8f0-AtlgilwG8P-SQbzLtyREDmG1fYcA%26u%3Dhttps%253a%252f%252fmaps%252esouthampton%252eac%252euk&data=01%7C01%7C%7C326ee101b7234314aefc08d6a3135896%7C4a5378f929f44d3ebe89669d03ada9d8%7C1&sdata=2NM30FSeay3IsbS0MlU4Y4lY%2Bte9J0bIUGeLJnLnpHs%3D&reserved=0>). Please aim to be there for 1000. Gopal has kindly offered to arrange car passes for us in the staff parking space on Broadlands Road but I’m not sure how many he can secure. First come first served! If there are too many of us, head for the pay-and-display car park on University Road. I’m not aware of any special dietary requirements but please say if there are any. If anyone would like to volunteer to provide a 10-20 minute brief on their work during the lunchtime slot let me know otherwise I’m happy to provide an overview of Dstl’s work on AI.
Thanks

Hi Steven,
Yes, the meeting is on the Highfield campus, Building 32, Level 4. Room 4073. It’s on University Road. You’ve probably been to that board room before if you’ve been to ECS.
My phone number is 07792556695. We will have parking permits ready for you to use in the staff parking space on Broadlands Road or you could use the pay-and-display carpark next to the building.
Here’s a map you can use:

Gopal

Gopal,
Forgot to mention – can you let me know where to direct people? Assume we’re heading for the Highfield Campus followed by the ECS building on the Avenue but not sure beyond that?
Thanks

Hi Gopal,
Still herding the cats but I think it’ll be around 10 of us. I’m not sure how many vehicles we’ll be travelling in but I’d expect most people will be coming from different directions. I’ve asked people to confirm by close of play today so should be able to confirm tomorrow.

Hi Gopal,
Sorry I meant to send these through a couple of days ago but other tasks got in the way! Here’s a few thoughts on areas (in rough order of priority) that might be fruitful areas of discussion, don’t feel any pressure to cover most/all of the areas below, I’m just providing to give you some ideas of the kinds of things Dstl is interested in. I’m very happy to provide a lunchtime seminar as part of the visit if that’d be of interest. It’d be good to catch up with Les Carr on the AI for Future Society CDT we supported (although I’m not aware the results of the AI CDTs have been announced yet).
Let us know which date is best – 11th is better than 1st but either are good. If diaries permit I’d be keen to bring a few others with me including Ajay Chakravarthy, Oli Lanning, Deb Fish and Nick Farrar all of whom would be interested in what you do.
Carol – not managed to speak to you yet but just to ensure you’re aware of this interaction between Southampton Uni and Dstl’s AI Lab. You’re welcome to join us.
Steve

Subject: Re: [UK OFFICIAL] Soton CMI/Dstl AI Lab
Hi Steven,
Hope all well. Good talking to you on Monday. Could you please send me a few bullet points on the topics of interest?
We have some notes but maybe you have a more complete list. I’d like to make sure we get the right people at the workshop.
I should be able to firm up the date by early next week (it will either be the 1st or the 11th).
Regards,
Gopal

Conference call number as discussed. If I don’t make it, it probably means I’m in A&E getting my daughter’s leg plastered! My mobile number is 07976 577653 if there are any problems.
Attached are 2 slides I’ll use to fill you in what we are doing.
