Hi all,

Here’s a draft agenda for the meeting tomorrow:

1. Update on PhD evening
2. Update on emails inviting contributions/membership to CMI
3. Request to fund Doctoral College activity (see email below)
4. GovTech/Data Infra event
5. March event.
6. AOB

Please let me know if you want to add anything.

Jon: as you are not coming, could you please send us an update on follow-ups from (1) and your take on 3? Also, any ideas on what we could do for an event in March?

Regards,

Gopal

Hi Gopal,

As part of the grad school festival of doctoral research we were looking to run an interdisciplinary workshop on artificial intelligence, a one day event consisting of a series of talks in the morning followed by a lab and tutorial session in the afternoon. This is following a successful event of the same name last year which received funding through the activities fund. Unfortunately, our proposal this year has only received funding for the planned afternoon sessions of up to £500. Jon suggested asking if you would be willing/able to fund the morning session (around £500) as a CMI event rather than part of the festival of doctoral research. Attached is our original proposal to the activities fund for your reference. We have tentatively booked 32 / 1015, 9:00-13:00 on the 13th May for the event as this was within the requirements for the activities fund, although these now only apply to the afternoon session, which could be held separately if necessary. Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
Ethan Harris and Matt Painter
