Dear Dr Sarvapali Ramchurn

I'm Minki graduated from ISVR last year and now working at LG Electronics as the acoustical engineer.

Nowadays, many global manufacturers are applying AI Tech. in manufacturing sites to keep up with era of Industry 4.0.
However, there are technical limitations to overcome and to generate new ideas using AI technology.
LG M&PRI wants to extend R&D network and overcome domestic human resources.
Our idea is to establish AI laboratory in advanced academic site, such as University of Southampton with many AI researchers.



We are considering two possible collaboration options with UoS.
Keeping in mind, it is just an initial concept stage and our Open Innovation team will further develop the concept.

Option 1) Establish AI research pool inside Campus
 - LG : Provide research funding
 - UoS : Provide potential researchers for LG-side topics only



Option 2) Establish laboratory (including physical space)
  - LG : Provide research funding & dispatch one or two LG employees with manufacturing-side domain knowledge
  - UoS : Establish laboratory including 4-5 research members and research director whom UoS professor recommends



It would be great to hear any feedback about our plan.
