[C-IoT Management] FW: Deadline Extended: Submit a Poster to the IoT Research Showcase event at FEPS Research Week

Dear C-IoT Management Group,

If any of you have any IoT research contacts in FEPS’ other schools/departments (Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or ZI), please can you forward my email onto them URGENTLY with a targeted invite? We obviously want ECS to have the strongest presence at the event, but currently only have a small handful of posters from elsewhere in the Faculty, and it would be nice to have it a bit more balanced.

Of course, if there are any researchers in your group (or you) that would like to present a poster, they are more than welcome to submit too! I believe we have around 15 poster spaces left.

Dear FEPS researcher,

IoT Poster Submission: Deadline Extended
We still have a few places available for posters at the IoT Research Showcase poster event on the Friday (05th April) of FEPS Research Week, and so are extending the submission deadline to 12:00 tomorrow (Tuesday 26 March). We have had a good response (already accepting 26 posters), but would particularly like to engage further with other Schools/Departments (we currently have 1 poster from Chemistry and 3 from Engineering). I will confirm shortly after the deadline to confirm if your poster has been accepted – if so, you will have until 12:00 on Thursday 28 March to create the pdf of the poster (assuming you need us to print it for you; if not, you can bring it to the event).

Attend the FEPS IoT Showcase
If you are not presenting a poster, but would like to attend to find out more about FEPS research in IoT, please come along to 38/Garden Court between 10:30 and 12:30 on Friday 05 April, where the posters will be being presented. At around 11:00, there will be short overview talks about ECS’ three strategic research centres: the Centre for IoT and Pervasive Systems (www.c-iot.ecs.soton.ac.uk<http://www.c-iot.ecs.soton.ac.uk>), the Centre for Machine Intelligence (www.cmi.ecs.soton.ac.uk<http://www.cmi.ecs.soton.ac.uk>) and the Centre for Health Technologies (www.cht.ecs.soton.ac.uk<http://www.cht.ecs.soton.ac.uk>).

Dear FEPS researcher,

As part of FEPS Research Week, ECS’ Centre for Internet of Things and Pervasive Systems<http://www.c-iot.ecs.soton.ac.uk/> is organising a poster session to showcase Internet of Things (IoT) research across the Faculty. The event will take place on the Highfield Campus on the morning of Friday 05 April 2019 (likely to be 10:30-12:30).

We invite all FEPS researchers (PhD, postdoc, academic, etc) that are undertaking research related to IoT to present a poster. Posters could be about past or present research projects, an individual piece of work/a paper, a summary of activity within a group, a position piece about the potential for IoT in your field, etc. They could be related to anything from underpinning technologies for IoT through to applications and deployments.

I will get in contact with you shortly after the deadline to let you know whether or not your submission has been accepted (we will only reject submissions if they are out-of-scope, or if we have exceeded capacity for the event). If you need to have your poster printed, you will then have around a week to send us a pdf (the deadline is likely to be Thursday 28th March).

Everybody in the Faculty is invited to attend to find out more about IoT research in FEPS, and I will circulate more information nearer the time. The event will also feature short talks providing an overview of two of ECS’s other strategic research centres: the Centre for Machine Intelligence<https://www.cmi.ecs.soton.ac.uk/> (CMI) and the Centre for Health Technologies<https://www.cht.ecs.soton.ac.uk/> (CHT).
