Dear all
If anyone has any dietary requirements or allergies you would like me to let the hotel know about, could you please let me know ASAP? And I’d be grateful if you could please confirm your attendance for final catering numbers.
We will be in Lord Selborne room for the meeting and our tea/coffee will be served in the Herb Garden opposite. To find the room, come into the main hotel bar and take the doorway at the top left side of the bar. Follow the corridor around to the left, passing the main toilets, and about halfway along the corridor just after a slight incline, our rooms will be to your left and right.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Kath

Subject: C-IoT Away Day on Thursday
Dear all,
I hope you’ve all had a good Easter break. In advance of the C-IoT Away Day on Thursday, I wanted to share the outline agenda with you:
Outline Agenda
09:00-09:30 Arrival (Chilworth Manor)
09:30-12:30 Morning Session: Research Collaboration and Funding
12:30-13:30 Lunch
13:30-16:00 Afternoon Session: Community, Reputation and Recruitment
This is loosely tied to the Centre’s strategy and, one-year in, the purpose of the event is to reflect on this and plan for the future and, more specifically, to build research collaborations that we can take forward. The format will be a combination of short presentations, and group discussions/working groups.
Please Prepare…
The morning session will run a little like a sandpit, and there may be a (very) small amount of pump-priming funding that can be attached to this. In order to prepare, please can I ask you to EACH prepare and bring a couple of slides (or email to me in advance if you want it on my laptop):
* 1 (or more) slides covering your research interests in IoT. Examples will be more useful that just a list of areas/bullets. If your existing research hasn’t yet incorporated IoT, please present the possibilities that you envisage;
* 1 (or more) slides covering your broader research group’s interests in IoT. Where there’s more than one of you attending the Away Day from the same group, feel free to subdivide your research group for ease.
You only have a couple of minutes each, so it shouldn’t much work to put something together (and you may already have something suitable). The purpose of this is to start discussions about potential areas of overlap between people/groups.
Note: I’m aware that Thomas, Bing and Thanassis were not available on these dates, but I’m assuming that everybody else still is as per the Doodle. Thomas and Bing: I don’t believe that there’s anyone else on the C-IoT Management Committee from your research group – if you’d like a (relevant/interested) substitute academic from your group to stand in, please can you let me know urgently?
See you on Thursday!
