<b><span style="color:maroon">CALL FOR ELECTRONIC POSTERS – SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT TO THE BERLIN 10 OPEN ACCESS CONFERENCE ELECTRONIC POSTER DISPLAY</span></b><u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal" align="center" style="text-align:center">
<u></u><u></u></p><p style="margin-left:0cm">Proposals are now being invited for the Berlin 10 Open Access Conference electronic poster display, which will showcase Open Access initiatives from all corners of the globe. </p>
<p style="margin-left:0cm"><u></u></p><p style="margin-left:0cm">Electronic <span style="color:#1f497d">p</span>osters will be displayed at the venue on electronic display boards for the duration of the Conference as well as on the Conference web site<span style="color:#1f497d"> </span>(at <span style="color:#1f497d"><a href="http://www.berlin10.org" target="_blank">www.berlin10.org</a> </span>), and will also be promoted via social networking tools. Electronic <span style="color:#1f497d">p</span>oster proposals will be reviewed by the Conference Advisory Committee and evaluated according to their contribution to the Conference theme: <i>Networked scholarship in a networked world: participation in Open Access. </i>Successful proposals and <span style="color:#1f497d">e</span>lectronic <span style="color:#1f497d">p</span>osters will highlight the importance of research sharing within an Open Access environment, and will link to the theme and sub-themes for this Conference. Given that the Conference will be held in Africa, the sub-themes to be explored are concomitant with the development and transformative agenda of Open Access. The sub-themes are:<u></u><u></u></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> <u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="color:maroon">What is an Electronic Poster or ePoster?</span></b><u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">
An electronic poster utilises a large monitor and computer to display multimedia versions of a poster. It gives an opportunity for a computer savvy presenter in the poster session to more effectively convey information that would not necessarily be possible with a traditional printed poster. It also enhances visualisation to attract interest of attendees. Electronic posters are intended to provide a display of information that is not possible with a traditional printed poster. Embedding multimedia content, along with static elements, such as titles, logos, and summaries, would be a good way to convey information. Examples of dynamic visual elements include videos, slide shows, animated charts or graphs, scrolling text, or 3D rotation of a model.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The intention of an electronic poster does not include attracting visitors to stay for a long oral, video, or slideshow presentation. Display elements can either loop for a minute or less, or be activated and controlled by the poster presenter on command. Remember, you are to interact with those who are interested in your electronic poster, not give a presentation to an audience.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="color:maroon">Guidelines</span></b><u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"> <u></u><u></u></p><p>1.<span style="font-size:7.0pt"> </span>Please create your electronic poster using MSPowerPoint or OpenOffice presentation software.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p>2.<span style="font-size:7.0pt"> </span>The electronic poster can consist of 1 to 5 slides.<u></u><u></u></p><p>3.<span style="font-size:7.0pt"> </span>Use animation and multimedia content to enhance your electronic poster.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p>4.<span style="font-size:7.0pt"> </span>Set the electronic poster up as a slide show, with slide transitions included.<u></u><u></u></p><p>5.<span style="font-size:7.0pt"> </span>It will be your own responsibility to ensure that the electronic poster displays correctly on the day prior to the start of the Conference. All slide shows will be pre-uploaded by the 6<sup>th</sup> of November 2012.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p>6.<span style="font-size:7.0pt"> </span>The poster title and your name should be clearly displayed on each slide.<u></u><u></u></p><p>7.<span style="font-size:7.0pt"> </span>No audio speakers will be available.<u></u><u></u></p>
<p>8.<span style="font-size:7.0pt"> </span>The electronic poster stations will have no connection to the Internet. Therefore please do not embed any items that require Internet connection. <u></u><u></u></p><p>9. After being set up, the electronic poster should be able to loop without any human intervention (e.g. avoid clickable hyperlinks). <u></u><u></u></p>
<p>10.
