<br><font size="2" face="Times New Roman">IOP Publishing and the<b> </b>International
Union for Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) Commission on Computational
Physics have today signed a five-year framework agreement for publishing
open-access conference proceedings. </font>
<br>
<br><font size="2" face="Times New Roman">This is the first formal publishing
agreement of its kind between IOP and IUPAP and will mean that the proceedings
of the annual Conference on Computational Physics will<b> </b>be published
as volumes within the open access Journal of Physics: Conference Series
(JPCS). </font>
<br>
<br><font size="2" face="Times New Roman">Professor James Gubernatis of the
Commission said “We selected JPCS to help our conference organizers reduce
time and administrative effort to meet the policies of IUPAP with regard
to publishing accessible proceedings. Working with JPCS also assists them
in predicting their costs, while offering the flexibility to meet special
needs.” </font>
<br>
<br><font size="2" face="Times New Roman">Graham Douglas, Senior Publisher,
said “We are delighted that IOP Publishing’s open-access proceedings
journal has been recognized by the IUPAP as the most effective way to disseminate
their proceedings. We look forward to a highly successful collaboration
between our two societies, and to publications that will be of long-lasting
value to physics communities worldwide.”</font>
<br>
<br><font size="2" face="Times New Roman">Launched in 2004, JPCS is a fully
open-access proceedings journal which covers the entire spectrum of physics
research, publishing more than 60 proceedings per year. Its rapid growth
and adoption by the international physics community is reflected in more
than 150,000 article downloads every month. Authors retain the copyright
of their proceedings papers.</font>

IOP Publishing provides publications through which leading-edge scientific
research is distributed worldwide. IOP Publishing is central to the Institute
of Physics (IOP), a not-for-profit society. Any financial surplus earned
