<br>We are urgently looking to engage a highly skilled and experienced Open Access expert as a temporary consultant to advance our 2010 - 2011 Workplan. A Brief Terms of Reference (TOR) is provided below and the Extended TOR will be provided on request.<br>

(CI) Sector is looking to urgently engage a temporary consultant with high
levels of skills and experience in the area of Open Access (OA) to scientific
information.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Under the director supervision of the
Director of the Information Society Division, Mr. Indrajit Banerjee, the Consultant would be
responsible for advancing the Open Access Workplan for 2010 - 2011 with the
following benchmarks: </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1cm;"><span style="font-family: Symbol;" lang="EN-GB"><span>·<span style="font: 7pt "Times New Roman";">
</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">Multilingual platform for the
sharing of open scientific resources accessed by users from at least 3 regions;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1cm;"><span style="font-family: Symbol;" lang="EN-GB"><span>·<span style="font: 7pt "Times New Roman";">
</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">Agreements reached with 3
publishers to facilitate access to the state-of-the-art scientific research;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1cm;"><span style="font-family: Symbol;" lang="EN-GB"><span>·<span style="font: 7pt "Times New Roman";">
</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">Open Access policies adopted in
5 countries;</span></p>

</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">Following on from a General
Conference Resolution, the development of a Global Map of Open Access
Initiatives and Resources including a dynamic, viable Portal;</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">The contracts would be for:</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1cm;"><span lang="EN-GB"><span>a)<span style="font: 7pt "Times New Roman";">
</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">For up to 6 months;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1cm;"><span lang="EN-GB"><span>b)<span style="font: 7pt "Times New Roman";">
</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">Paid at UN P3 - P4 levels;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1cm;"><span lang="EN-GB"><span>c)<span style="font: 7pt "Times New Roman";">
</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">Based at the UNESCO HQ in Paris with full support
services and requiring field work;</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1cm;"><span lang="EN-GB"><span>d)<span style="font: 7pt "Times New Roman";">
</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">with UNESCO covering return economy-class
airfares, 7 day's Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) for settling-in costs, and
all costs for a French work visa</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">We would highly favour female candidates
especially from Africa, Least Developed
Countries (LDCs), or Small Island Developing States (SIDS). We would greatly
