Dear all,<br><br>
Digital Repository Federation (DRF) in Japan has released a report
on the activities <br>
of DRF during 2006-08.<br><br>
Digital Repository Federation (DRF) was initiated by three
national universities <br>
- Hokkaido, Chiba, Kanazawa - as one of Institutional Repository Programs
subsidized <br>
and supported by NII (National Institute of Informatics) in Japan. <br>
DRF is an independent body by IR managers to promote institutional
repositories and<br>
Open Access. At present, 89 universities and institutions in Japan
participate in DRF. <br>
Its activities include sharing information about IRs and Open Access by
mailing list,<br>
wiki, workshops at regional and national revel. <br><br>
DRF has also been getting involved in international activities.
<br><br>
DRF held international conference on institutional repositories and
Open Access (DIRFIC<br>
2008) in 2008 at Osaka University which is one of top research
universities in Japan. <br>
More than 200 librarians and IR managers joined this conference from
several countries <br>
in Asia and Europe.<br>
DRF has also exchanged MoU with DRIVER last November at the venue
of SPARC Digital <br>
Repository Meeting 2008 for mutual cooperation to contribute to the
establishment of<br>
institutional repository infrastructure, share technical and
non-technical information<br>
on the management of IRs.<br><br>
