<DIV><FONT size="4"><STRONG>I am an editor and publisher with a PhD from Peking University majoring in editing and publishing. My PhD dissertation title is Open Access Publishing of Scientific Scholarly Journals in China. After over six years study on open access, I have published over ten research papers on open access. I am now still keeping my eyes on the new trend of open access developent.</STRONG></FONT></DIV>

One is a Chinese journal using hybrid model with print and online versions, entitled Transactions of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering at <A href="http://www.tcsae.org">http://www.tcsae.org</A>. The other is a newly-launched born online open access journal,entitled International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering(IJABE) based on Open Journal System at <A href="http://www.ijabe.org">http://www.ijabe.org</A>. </FONT></STRONG></DIV>

The primary goal of the network is to identify and discuss important emerging trends in a forum composed of subject matter experts from a variety of disciplines. <BR> <BR>The network is called the Global Knowledge Exchange Network (GKEN). Its members will select areas of interest and form groups to address them. As a start, we have proposed four areas: Scholarly Communications and Open Access, Research Metrics, Cyberinfrastructure and Information Behavior. Each group is expected to identify developing trends within its subject, discuss them among its members, write trend briefings and, finally, predict the likelihood of the trends using prediction markets.
