Dear OER and OA friends,

I am very happy to share with you some professional changes on my side.

As of this Monday, I began work as the* *Intentional Intellectual
Property Director at Electronic Frontier Foundation (www.eff.org).
*
*
Besides leading the international policy and advocacy side within IP
international negotiations (TPP, ACTA, WIPO, IGF, etc), I look forward to
bringing OER and open access experiences to EFF. Please feel free to
contact me if you are interested in how we could cooperate moving forward.

I have left the day-to-day coordination of the OER-Brazil Project, but
assumed an advisory role, and I will stay directly involved with the policy
makers to ensure our legislative efforts move forward (such as
the activities during the upcoming UNESCO meeting from 20-22 of June in
Paris).

I will not be at that meeting due to previous commitments, but I want to be
sure that all of you that may be there have the opportunity to meet our
wonderful governmental and civil society delegates. UNESCO and COL have
been really helpful accommodating all our ideas and needs. :-) Please, find
attached the most current agenda of the Paris event.

As governmental representatives we will have:
* Diplomat Luciano Costa, from our Ministry of Foreign Relations;
* Congress Representative Angelo Vanhoni - the rapporteur for the National
Plan of Education (where we were able to insert 2 OER-related provisions)
and the rapporteur for the OER Federal Bill (he will be speaking in the
plenary session, in the table our dear Hal Plotkin will also be presenting
at). Mr. Vanhoni is a great supporter of OER and it would be great (and
helpful) if some of you make the time to meet (and take pictures) :-) with
him;
* State Representative Simao Pedro - one of my heroes, and the author of
the OER bill for Sao Paulo state (the one I have mentioned that has been
approved in all Committees it has passed through at ALESP). It also would
be great (and helpful) if some of you make the time to meet (and take
pictures) :-) with him.
* Alexandre Barbosa - representative of CGI.br - our Brazilian Internet
Steering Committee <http://cgi.br/english/about/definition.htm>
* Rafael Parente - from Rio de Janeiro city Education Secretary and leader
of http://www.educopedia.com.br/ (a public LMS for the public network of
schools)

On the academia and civil society side (check agenda for our workshop) we
will have:
* Prof. Nelson Pretto - who has co-organized with me and Bianca the OER Br
Book (soon we will have the English and Spanish translations also
available): http://www.livrorea.net.br/;
* Prof. Tel Amiel, from UNICAMP, who many of you know. His group at UNICAMP
has put together an OER toolkit in Portuguese and we have worked on
adapting all the copyright issues based on Br law:
http://educacaoaberta.org/rea/
* Priscila Gonsales, representing the OER-Brazil Project and Educadigital
Institute. Priscila has more than 10 years of experience on taking
technology to the classroom.
* Andreia Innamorato - coordinator of the OportUnidad Project in Brazil.

Besides our participation in the official government meeting and in the
open parallel meeting, we will also have a stand with books and materials.
So, I invite all of you to come by and say hello.

In any case, I just want to tell you that this has been
an incredible journey of work, new friendships and partnerships. I also
want to thank OSF, and specifically Melissa Hagemann, for her support and
trust all these years.

And do not worry, you will keep hearing from me and I will hope to see many
of you at OpenEd later this year.

Hugs,

Carol
