*Open Government Data Camp 2011*
Around the world governments and public bodies have been opening up official
datasets for the public to reuse. There has been an explosion of new
applications, competitions, hackdays and other initiatives from local
authorities, central government departments, international bodies and
others. Following on from the first international Open Government Data Camp
in fall 2010, this event will bring together movers and shakers from the
world of open government data — including government representatives,
policymakers, lawyers, technologists, academics, advocates, citizens,
journalists and reusers.

*SHOW - Share Open Access Worldwide*
SHOW (Share/OpenAccess/Worldwide) will be the first-of-its-kind event to
celebrate Open Access Week in Croatia at the Faculty of Humanities and
Social Sciences within the University Campus in Rijeka, Croatia. The idea is
to raise awareness among Croatian students about the importance of free flow
of information and open access to research literature, which is not a
familiar term, by raising questions about what students are already well
familiar with, i.e., intellectual property. The students will be introduced
to Copyleft movement, Creative Commons licensing, Open Projects, Open
Content movement, Open Access movement and the Right to Research Coalition
action and they will be invited to join the debate about the chances for the
world of open values.

The eleventh annual Media That Matters Film Festival is taking place once
again in New York City! More than a film festival, Media That Matters
inspires and impacts audiences across the globe. Covering a vast array of
topics from LGBT youth, autism awareness, biased-based bullying, immigration
and much more, the eleventh annual collection will feature thirteen new
shorts. The films will be made available online under CC BY-NC-ND starting
October 27th.

The ninth installment in the Berlin Open Access Conference Series, which
convenes leaders in the science, humanities, research, funding, and policy
communities around The Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the
Sciences and Humanities, will take place at the Howard Hughes Medical
Institute on November 9 & 10, 2011. The conference, called “Berlin 9 Open
Access Conference: The impact of Open Access in research and scholarship,”
will focus on the role that open online access can play in accelerating the
conduct and communication of scholarship, and the opportunities this
presents to the funders, creators, and end users of this information. More
