Happy birthday to the Budapest Open Access
Initiative<http://www.soros.org/openaccess/>,
which is nine years old today!

The Budapest Open Access Initiative was the first major declaration of
support for open access. It arose from a small but lively meeting convened
in Budapest by the Open Society Institute (OSI) on December 1-2, 2001. The
BOAI public statement was released on February 14, 2002.

 Happy birthday, BOAI, and many happy returns!
