The *European Journal of Psychotraumatology* launches
6 December, Stockholm : Co-Action Publishing joins the European Society for
Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) in announcing the launch today of the
society’s new journal, *European Journal of Psychotraumatology (EJPT)*.
The *European Journal of Psychotraumatology* is the official organ of the
society and aims to engage scholars, clinicians and researchers in the
crucial discourse about traumatic stress and its consequences, publishing
peer-reviewed original research as well as papers documenting evidence-based
clinical practice. The Journal will present all levels of evidence-based
health care as well as conveying practical and hands-on information for
clinicians. All content is published open access under a creative commons
license. Accessibility to the Journal is further strengthened by the unique
inclusion of article abstracts in at least five different languages,
underscoring *EJPT’s* European roots.
“The *EJPT* is supported by an extensive European team of editors and
editorial board members,” says Editor-in-Chief Miranda Olff, Academic
Medical Center , the Netherlands , adding “I am honored to take on the
position as Editor-in-Chief of *EJPT* and am looking forward to working with
the entire team around the Journal. We have an excellent editorial
organization in place, including Associate Editors who are highly renowned
in their specific fields of expertise – Vittoria Ardino, Chris Brewin, Ruth
Lanius, Agnes van Minnen, Rita Rosner, and Stuart Turner – in addition to
three statistical reviewers, and over forty excellent editorial board
members. With their support we will be able to quickly develop *EJPT* as a
high quality publishing outlet.”
*EJPT* is launching with several important articles and case reports.
Bisson and colleagues report on “Implementing a screening programme for
post-traumatic stress disorder following violent crimes”, while Maercker &
Znoj contribute a review of “The younger sibling of PTSD: similarities and
differences between complicated grief and post-traumatic stress disorder”. A
second review by Lanius, Frewen, Vermetten and Yehuda covers “Fear
conditioning and early life vulnerabilities: Two distinct pathways of
emotional dysregulation and brain dysfunction in PTSD”. Other contributions
include, “The impact of taxing working memory on negative and positive
memories” by Engelhard and colleagues, and Townsend Fear and her co-workers’
piece on “50 ways to trace your veteran: increasing response rates can be
cheap and effective”. The inaugural content is rounded off by three case
reports, one on a new form of psychotherapy, the second on the feasibility
of brief intensive exposure therapy for PTSD patients with childhood sexual
abuse and, the third on Glucocorticoid augmentation of prolonged exposure
therapy.
The editors report that more papers are in the pipeline and under review;
researchers, clinicians, allied health care professionals, patient groups,
policy makers, media and the general public can expect to read even more
content in the near future.
