Dear Les,

My apologies I was unable to attend the most recent Academic Advisory Board.
In relation to the action point below, there are some developments.

There is a colleague of mine at Business School, Ajit Nayak, who has been recently charged with the task of exploring interdisciplinary collaborations within and outside our Faculty. Due to his role, he is ideally positioned to connect to FSS academics engaged in web science related research.

I wonder whether you could consider inviting Ajit to permanently sit on WSI Advisory Board?

Kind regards,
Vadim

Importance: High

Dear Academic Advisory Board,

I have recently taken over from Susan Halford as Chair of the WSI Academic Advisory Board (please see attached the ToRs with the full list of members). I’m looking forward to working with you all and will be contacting you to follow up on some of the actions from the last meeting. One of these was for representatives from each Faculty to meet to review related research in their Faculty and bring an overview to the next meeting - I’d be grateful if you could let me know if any progress has been made on this.

Please complete the Doodle Poll below so that we can fix the date of the next meeting

WSI Stimulus Fund

The WSI has stimulus funds available for interdisciplinary pilot projects. The funds have to be spent by 31 July 2019, so we are looking for small 3-4 month projects in the area of Web Science, typically within the range of £5-10k and would like to offer this opportunity to the AAB. Please send Susan Davies expressions of interest, together with an indicative cost, and which broadly meet the criteria below by 5pm on Monday 25 March.

• Involve collaboration between disciplines
• Facilitate research collaborations and engagement with non-academic partners
• Lead to the development of full research grant or contracts proposals with non-academic partners
